Red Cross Children’s Hospital
The Red Cross Children’s Hospital is the only specialist Hospital dedicated entirely to Children in sub-Saharan Africa. The Children are always seriously ill, often with rare, life-threatening conditions.
XL Absolut Travel is committed to community service and has established a vibrant corporate social responsibility initiative to support the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. We continue on a long tradition by donating funds that help improve the lives of patients and support those who care for them.
WEEKEND WAITING LIST SURGERY INITIATIVE HELPS 152 CHILDREN IN 2015
The Weekend Waiting List Initiative has been running as an annual project since 2011. The Initiative was established to address the protracted waiting list by adding an additional day of surgeries (Saturday) to the hospital’s operating schedule. By reducing the large volumes of relatively minor cases, more scope and flexibility is provided for more complex cases to be attended to during the week.
The fifth annual Weekend Waiting List Initiative at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital came to a successful end on Saturday, 21 November 2015, after running for 21 weeks from 4 July 2015. The 2015 inititiative was originally scheduled to end in October but had been extended by a further 4 weeks.
BUILDING A BIGGER AND BETTER PAEDIATRIC ICU
Thank you to XL Absolut Travel for your wonderful support towards the upgrade and expansion of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
At January 2016, the builders had already made fantastic progress on the building of the first “wing” which will be opened in June this year.
